Stockholm, often called the "Venice of the North" and with its 1,5 million inhabitants is the largest city and the capital of Sweden. The city was founded around 1100 AD. The historical Old Town is despite being a very touristy spot filled with great restaurants and a vibrant atmosphere. Stockholm is a modern metropolis divided into different islands, each with its own character.
Södermalm is a bohemian and artistic area. Östermalm the fancy and posh one. Kungsholmen is a calm residential area and Vasastan is younger and a bit more hip.
Sweden as a country has the most progressive LGBTQ+ rights in the world and became the seventh country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide in 2009.
The city of Stockholm has one of the largest gay pride parades in the world where both politicians from the opposition as well as the sitting members of Parliament participate. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, you can feel safe but as usual general precautions apply especially at night.
NIGHTLIFE / BACKDOOR
This club is located a bit outside the city center, but this does not stop guys from coming here. A bit more mixed clientele on Saturdays, but still great fun. Nice venue with different dance floors, a darkroom and great music. Since they close at 05:00, you should come around 01:00.
